It's not where you go it's where you hang out
For many of us it has become so easy to head off to the far-flung corners of the earth that travel is no longer about the destination, it's about what you do when you're there. New magazines such as Jaunt in the U.S. are blurring the lines between fashion and lifestyle, and travel companies are already beginning to offer holidays by lifestyle rather than by destination. This means travel companies are increasingly going for the bigger picture, a combination of visual power and lifestyle choice.

Five travel trends to keep an eye on:

Forget hiking, kite surfing or parascending, being active on vacation is more about enjoying the place you are visiting and sampling the culture, food and lifestyle.

Vacations are no longer just about lazing on the beach, spa vacations are on the increase with more people choosing to spend their time practicing yoga, tai chi or other spiritually enriching activities.
Why budget when you've got so little free time and flights are so cheap? Many travel operators are now offering high-end status vacation packages and tours for people from all walks of life in response to a growing demand for both pampering and indulgence.
They work hard but now they play hard too. A recent survey concluded that affluent urbanites are taking more holidays than any other group of people.
Holidays used to involve methodical planning and preparation. Not any more. Changing working practices, cheaper airline tickets and booking accommodation online are just some of the reasons that city breaks and shorter trips have increased in popularity across all markets.
