At long last you've found the perfect image of an Asian pear: plump, haughty and overripe; the stem tweaks to the left, exactly as you envisioned it. One problem: There's not enough copy space for your ad concept.

Our keywording engineers have come up with a keen solution to this unsavory situation. Simply add the term 'copy space' to your search. For example, you might try 'leather and copy space' or 'lipstick and copy space' or even 'meat and copy space.' If only it worked on in-laws.

Julia Fullerton-Batten's work has garnered a truly impressive number of awards, most recently the Schweppes Photographic Portrait Prize, Applied Arts Photography Annual, London Photographic Award, Communication Arts Award and the Photo Review Award for 2004. Well-established as a commercial photographer, she balances ad agency campaigns and editorial commissions with personal artistic pursuits. Often in her work, still-lifes exude powerful emotional presence through delicate arrangements of color and detail that convey both original vision and a sense of intimacy. Her portraits tend to present unassuming people in urban settings, and draw us into territory that is surreal, familiar and comforting at once. In this interview, Fullerton-Batten discusses creative collaboration, artistic influences and current projects.

It's that time again: Men are becoming manly. Say goodbye to the metrosexual. Remember him? The primping, preening, plucking lad whose debut at the spa and cosmetics counter was fun for a while? He's yesterday's news. The latest trend in male aesthetics is toward an uncomplicated, self-assured man's man. This new "free-range male" still cultivates a contemporary outlook. He knows his global politics, appreciates art and may even like salad. But if you catch him in front of a mirror, it's probably because he's checking to see if he needs stitches.

Referred to as "retrosexuals" and even "genuine guys," this emerging demographic exhibits a set of basic behaviors that are far from new. They are the kinds of men who will get the door, change the tire and die prematurely of heart attacks. Of the many factors driving this trend, Getty Images Creative Research discovered that women may be playing the most significant role. Are you surprised?
